Jack Defay is a second year MSE student working under Prof. Jia Deng in the PVL Lab at Princeton University in Computer Science. Jack's current research focuses on swarm robotics by examining how natural swarming insects organize. By studying insects, we can better organize the growing networks emerging in our modern world from the internet of things (IoT) to autonomous cars and drones. Jack's interest in robotics stems from the use of robots to do jobs that are impossible or unpleasant for human workers. The complex and dynamic tasks that teams of people do will similarly require teams of robots to accomplish. Along with research, he is involved in robotics outreach.
